Copyright and takedown

We respect copyright. A book is listed here only when there is a confirmed legal basis for sharing it.

What we check before listing a book

• Public domain: we find the year the author died and confirm that 70 full years have passed since. If the year of death cannot be confirmed, the book is not listed.
• Open licences: we record the source where the rights holder stated the licence.
• Author submissions: no book is published without a signed, written declaration.

If your work is here without your permission

Use "Report a problem with this book" on the book's page. Please include:

1. Your name and an email address where you can be reached.
2. The work concerned, and how you hold the rights in it (as author, heir, publisher and so on).
3. A statement that what you say is true and that you are the rights holder or are authorised to act for them.

When we receive a valid notice we take the book down promptly while we look into it, and we tell the person who submitted it, if there is one. If doubt about ownership remains, the book stays down.

Wrongful submissions

Accounts that submit books they do not own are suspended. Signing a false declaration can have legal consequences.
