The Sinhala text of the Kandyan Convention, the treaty signed at Kandy on 2 March 1815 by Governor Brownrigg and the Kandyan chiefs that ended the last Sinhala kingdom and placed the whole island under the British Crown. Twelve clauses: the deposition of Sri Vikrama Rajasinha, the promise to protect Buddhism, the abolition of torture, and the terms of British rule. Printed in the archaic Sinhala of the period, exactly as proclaimed.
